Christmas cheer in Lapland

    Hard work for Santa Claus. The scenic magic of Lapland with its Northern Lights offers the perfect setting for Christmas cheer. Year after year, families travel to the north of Finland to enjoy a taste of Christmas where the legend of Santa Claus is closest.
And year after year, the Schenker teams both in Immingham, Great Britain, and in Helsinki, Finland, ensure that the visitors’ dreams come true. At the beginning of November, Schenker
usually begins to move all the necessary equipment and accessories from Great Britain to six different sites in Lapland.

    the motto of the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games, Italy, is increasingly affecting the Italian population and, of course, the Italian Schenker team. As the Official Supplier for Freight Forwarding and Customs Clearance Operations to this mega sports event, Schenker Italiana keeps it's Logistics Center fully operational since summer 2005.

Boxing World Champion wears Schenker on his waistband

    Evidently the Schenker logo on his waistband brought him luck:

Zsolt Erdei, won the World Light-Heavyweight championship in Halle,Germany. The sportsman with the Schenker waistband is supported by Schenker in Hungary.

Schenker standardizes global airfreight services

 
    Schenker’s complete range of airfreight products has been unified under the umbrella of SCHENKERsky, a new global standard.

Within the new structure, SCHENKERjetcargo and its service levels first, business and economy deal with time-definite products for general cargo, whereas SCHENKERjetcargo special handles specific commodity groups such as dangerous goods or customized solutions such as on-board couriers.

Schenker offers also special solutions for industry groups:

Deutsche Bahn acquires US logistics company Bax Global

    DB expands its market position in the international transportation and logistics sector / Ideal complement to logistics subsidiary Schenker.

Bax Global offers worldwide air and sea freight forwarding services, domestic transportation services and supply chain management, and has a strong blue-chip customer base, primarily in the fields of electronics and consumer goods. In the first three quarters of 2005, Bax generated revenues of USD 2.04 billion with over 12,000 employees.

New stuff in SCHENKER d.o.o.

    SCHENKER d.o.o. Serbia have further expanded its capabilities by engaging three new transport officers in Belgrade and representative officer for South Serbia located in Nis.  New groupage lines are coming soon
    Early days of 2006 are expected to bring new groupage line from distrubution center in Italy. This line will add up new quality to our service and further strengthen our groupage line network in the region. More information will be published on our website in due time.

 New Ocean freight groupage lines from India and USA
    New Ocean freight lines from India (Nhava Sheve and Chennai) and USA (New York and Chicago) became operational recently. Transport lines are scheduled to run on a weekly basis. Please call for more information.

 Schenker strengthens market position in Norway with Linjegods
    Schenker has acquired the outstanding shares of its Norwegian subsidiary Linjegods AS. This company is specialized in domestic distribution, offering highly-developed system solutions designed for business customers. Linjegods has a dense network of more than 20 locations throughout Norway. Some 1,100 staff generate net sales of more than 250 million euros per year.

 Schenker carries Football Globe Germany of FIFA World Cup 2006™ on world tour
    In Germany it has already attracted more than half a million visitors in nine different cities: the Football Globe of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™. It will be touring Germany until 31 July 2006, generating publicity for the FIFA World Cup 2006™. Now a light and media sculpture under the name of Football Globe Germany - 2006 FIFA World Cup™ is going to be traveling the world. Schenker is responsible for the global logistics, as it already is for the Football Globe of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. Schenker is the Official Logistics Services Provider for the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ and is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG, which is an Official Supplier of the 2006 Football World Cup™.

Measuring nine meters in height, the Football Globe Germany is a project sponsored by the Berlin-based DFB-Kulturstiftung [German Football Association Cultural Foundation], and realized by Arts + Sport GmbH in Frankfurt. When it grows dark, the media scuplture gives off a fascinating light display. Its role is that of an international ambassador in enthusiastic anticipation of the event, and it will generate publicity at all the prime locations of major international cities for the FIFA World Cup 2006™, the associated Artistic and Cultural Programme and Germany as the host country.

 New logistics combination speeds up business
   

A unique combination of transit hub and logistics warehouse is now accelerating Schenker's European services. Goods received late in the evening reach any destination in Germany - and many of Europe's industrial areas - in the early hours of the following morning. This has been made possible by the new Schenker European Logistics Center (SELC) in Friedewald, North Hesse in Germany.

The new SELC provides storage space for more than 11,000 euro pallets in high-bay storage racks covering an area of approximately 12,000 square meters. Other goods are stored in the 4,500 sqm block storage area. Schenker has another 8,000 pallet spaces here. The 900 sqm safety zone for highly sensitive goods is equipped with video surveillance, alarm and sprinkler systems.

 Schenker provides logistics support for the FIFA Confederations Cup Germany 2005
   

For weeks now, Schenker's sports logistics specialists have been working at high speed for the FIFA Confederations Cup Germany 2005. In the FIFA World Cup stadiums in Cologne, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Leipzig and Hanover, for example, dedicated Schenker staff are ensuring that the venues get the equipment and facilities they require for both the FIFA and the media.

As a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG, one of the National Sponsors of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™, Schenker is permitted to use the title "Official mobility and logistics services provider to the 2006 FIFA World CupTM“.

 New groupage lines
   

New direct groupage line from Budapest, Hungary to Belgrade, Serbia started functioning from 1st of May. With that one, but also with another new line from Ede, Holland to Belgrade, Schenker brought lower costs to his clients while reducing delivery time.

 Schenker invests in Russian domestic logistics
   

Schenker is building a new scheduled distribution network in Russia. Connections will be established between the 20 biggest cities covering the European part of Russia, plus Ural
and West Siberia areas. The traffic will be opened in the coming weeks. The network will be expanded later this year. Collection and distribution transports to smaller cities will be operated from new regional hubs.

Between the cities of St. Petersburg, Kazan, Rostov-na-Donu, Samara, Volgograd and Krasnodar, the operations will start in early March 2005. According to plan, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh, Ufa, Saratov, Perm and Ekaterinburg will be added to the network later this year.

In March, the Russian Schenker subsidiary Schenker Ltd will open a newdistribution center of more than 5,000 sqm in Moscow, operating as the main hub for the distribution network and for cross docking. The terminal has an excellent location close to the Moscow Ring Road.

 Ultramodern logistics center in Budapest
    Schenker's Hungarian subsidiary, Schenker Kft., has moved into a new logistics center in the Budapest Intermodal Logistic Center (BILK). This means that yet another ultramodern facility has been added to further strengthen the Schenker network in Eastern Europe. The facility has been tailored to the growing customer demand for logistics services.

Schenker's new logistics center, which is located on an asphalted area of 65,000 sqm, includes a large building complex covering an area of some 24,000 sqm. This consists of a 17,000 sqm logistics storage area with a height of 11 meters and a 5,000 sqm general cargo terminal. The Schenker logistics center is also equipped with a 1,300 sqm hazardous materials warehouse. The entire facility meets the security standards specified by the "Technology Asset Protection Association" (TAPA) for the protection of high value / high risk cargo. There is also a total of 3,000 sqm of office space available, providing ample room for the administrative staff to perform their organizational duties. Schenker's Corporate Office in Hungary is now located here. The Schenker logistics center is fully equipped with state-of-the-art information and telecommunications technology.

 Partner for the Winteruniversiade Innsbruck/Seefeld 2005
    Schenker has been appointed the official logistics partner for the Winteruniversiade to be held in the Austrian city of Innsbruck/Seefeld, from January 12 to 24, 2005.

As the official logistics provider, Schenker will support the arriving university sports associations and the organizational committee ISOC with logistics solutions for team equipment, medical apparatus, food and sponsor materials. Ranking after the Olympic Games, the Winteruniversiade is the second largest winter sports event in the world.

Mag. Dr. Michael Bielowski, Chairman of the organizational committee, and Hans Dieter Salcher, Head of Schenker in Innsbruck and Tyrol, announced the partnership jointly. Mag. Dr. Michael Bielowski is convinced: “Schenker is a leading international logistics provider. With this globally active partner, we gave the 48 participating delegations a reliable contact for dealing with their bulky baggage both in their native countries and in Innsbruck.
